08 May | 5:00 pm

Hey everyone,

We haven’t released a new build since way back in February, so we have got a slew of changes to discuss. While the changes are wide-ranging and significant, we’ve broken down each batch into easily digestible sections, the first of which is the Outpost and its coming update. For those of you looking for an abridged breakdown of what we’ve been working on you may simply scroll down to the patch notes.

Location Artwork - Lumen
26 May | 10:00 am

'You know the saying: Only and idiot looks directly at the sun. Now, just so you know, only the king of the land of the greatest idiots looks directly at the calerus in daylight.'

- Valkhor, local guide of Lumen, to a group of newcomers

Nestled at the border of the South Calerus, the town of Lumen sprung up many decades ago when the Empire decided to try and emulate the successful crystal harvesting operations of the Kalani people of the east. To date, the settlement is indeed the most successful such operation outside of Sargot Kala.

Creature Artwork - Splinter
06 Aug | 10:00 am

'It came alive, dominus, I swear, the crystal did! There was a light moving inside it. Smashed Daro with a hand big as a cart! It hit Kulwhma so hard she flew across the pit... What could have we done but run, dominus? Please, have mercy!'

- The slave overseer Faez just before being whipped to death for losing a harvest of calerus crystals

'Don't sit up. Keep calm, you need to stay in bed for a while. You lost a leg and hurt your head. But you'll recover. Here. Drink, you'll need to replenish your fluids. Good. And now... tell me about the light inside the crystal creature that did this to you.'

- The Crystalmancer Shebenni to the slave Kulwhma several days after the incident

The beings referred to as Splinters are a mystery yet to be solved. Their emergence several decades ago came as a surprise to the budding crystal harvesting industry at the North and South Calerus. Ever since, mining and gathering crystal has become even more dangerous than before as these hulking crystal creatures attack mostly everyone they encounter. Their bulk is nigh impenetrable, and though they are slow, their powerful attacks can break armor, tools, and bones with ease. Thanks to their completely crystalline structure, it is often very difficult to spot them in the dense caleri before it is too late. No attempt at communication with them has been successful yet - Splinters seem to be antagonistic and alien to other species by default.

In gameplay terms, Splinters are terrifying enemies. They are immune to most status effects and are very resistant to magic. Their tough armor and sturdiness makes them extremely difficult to kill. They can easily present a serious challenge even to experienced comitati.

Location Artwork - Crystal Forest
19 Feb | 10:00 am

The Imperial word calerus has come to describe the many crystal forests that now dot the continent of Xeryn. The vast majority of these forests can be found in the east, in the province of Sargot Kala but some have grown in the central region of the Empire. Some caleri can be visited in the game, such as Loom, or the twin caleri simply called North Calerus and South Calerus.

Location Artwork - Arenas Vorax
17 Jul | 10:00 am

One of the largest continuous desert areas on a continent of many deserts, the Searing Plains spans several provinces that used to be forested regions and fertile plains before the Calamity, but became scorching hot and arid lands of sand dunes and little else. Some parts of the plains have low mountain ranges, rock gullies, or ravines, but, yellow sand dunes and salt flats remain the most common features. A constant, hot wind blows from the East and North, creating sandstorms regularly.
