In this series of “Revisited” articles, we’re taking a look at iconic or interesting locations in the playable part of the Riven Realms and invoke their unique atmosphere. Music plays a key role in building the game’s ambiance, and so we’ve decided to prepare short videos to get the vibe across.
This time around, we’re journeying to the Bronze Desert, a great arid region in the northwestern corner of the continent of Xeryn. According to legend, the Bronze Desert got its name when an early Emperor, Honrarius II., arrived at the newly acquired province and declared that the copper-colored sands should inform the naming. The legend does not speak of how the sovereign despised the bronze glow or that only a small region of the wasteland displayed that specific color. These days, the Bronze Desert is nothing but endless dunes and rock formations, slightly darker in hue than the Searing Plains to the south. Countless oases dot the landscape, veritable harbors in this sea of sand. The region is mostly inhabited by the native Bandul, though Imperials have had a strong presence there in the last 500 years.
We hope you have enjoyed this brief revisit of the Bronze Desert. Would you like to see similar shorts accompanied by moody music based on a Riven Realms location, and if so, which place would you revisit? Let us know!
Until then, stay safe, stay awesome, and conquer the wasteland!
