For today’s post, we’re pushing it further with teasers, and we have one of this writer’s favorites in store: the Hollow Men. The Hollow Men are a gang of warriors, ex-legionnaires, and mercenary criminals, and they have a long history going back to Legio. IX, or “Mortis”, with their story beginning when they lost on the battlefield to Raokan in p.c. 1074.

Choosing not to die in combat, they went against orders and fled the battle on the Imperial frontier, only to be forever condemned by Angamar of the Twelve. Led by Garvis Acutis Tenax – a man now long dead – the men escaped to lands where they couldn’t be hunted, and in the process sought to condemn themselves for crimes of desertion. They sought to inhabit a moral and spiritual prison, personified by the restrictive helms each and every member dons.

Though one might imagine them devoid of honor, this is far from the more complex truth. Like the Wasteland Stalkers, the Hollow Men exhibit a strict hierarchy, yet unlike them, their hierarchy is militaristic in nature, bearing many rituals and a training regiment more befitting Imperial legions. Defilement of that strict order is not tolerated, and the men of the gang who dare transgress against it are punished harshly indeed.

Even within their ranks, there are disparate hierarchies, cliques, and groups vying for standing. We cannot, of course, reveal just where you shall find these men of broken honor but you can rest assured they will be joining the diverse and dangerous cast of characters featured heavily in our upcoming region DLC.

For those who do not seek to follow in their dishonorable footsteps, we ask you to go forth and do as you always do: stay vigilant, stay awesome, and conquer the wasteland!
