Project Update - James

As part of our ongoing efforts to expand the team, one of the tasks we set about doing was hiring a couple of new writers. James is one such writer; born in Zambia to British parents, he grew up in New Zealand where he took to games, fantasy books, and D&D at an early age – wasting far too much of his time running campaigns with his school and university mates.

Later, he took on a variety of roles while traveling around various parts of the world, working as a freelance writer, and taking a strong interest in online poker. Eventually, he ended up in Budapest as an English teacher and copywriter, before finally finding the job of his dreams: a writer/narrative designer position with Lost Pilgrims.

Since starting with the team, his duties have been numerous: writing new events, learning Xeryn’s extensive lore, reviewing material, working on the Glossary, and – of course – playing the game far too much.

Along with these tasks, I've also spent a fair amount of time writing social media posts and working with some of the best creatives I’ve ever met – the lead developer and other writers. Oh, yes, it’s me, James. What can I say; the team thought it’d be a good laugh for me to write my own introduction. As many of you may well concur, there’s nothing quite so strange as writing about yourself – especially on social media.

The last three months have been some of the most exciting of my life. My fiancé and I welcomed our son into the world this year, and getting this role along with raising him have been an absolute blast. More than anything, though, I am excited for vagri of the Riven Realms to read the stories that myself and others have so lovingly crafted over the last three months, which culminates in the Seekers of Knowledge DLC. We’ve a great deal to show you, and we look forward to your feedback after its release!

And with that, it’s time to wrap things up. I’m already feeling a little too self-conscious. Until next time, stay safe, stay sane and conquer the wasteland!

– James, a Lost Pilgrim
