Expedition: Final Chapter Hotfix

Hey everyone,

Today’s update brings some tweaks to the recently released Expedition questline’s final chapter as well as further performance improvements and fixes. Before delving into that, however, we wanted to reflect upon the big update and its reception.

The response to the final major content update has been truly overwhelming. We've received a great many kind messages over the past few days, and one thing we've seen again and again is that many of you had been waiting to experience the Expedition storyline in its entirety before diving in. Knowing that the completed journey is now in your hands means a great deal to us.

Your excitement, thoughtful feedback, reviews, and words of encouragement have made this milestone even more special. After spending years building and expanding Vagrus, seeing so many of you finally embark on Kharandar's expedition is incredibly rewarding.

Although the final major gameplay update is now behind us, our work on Vagrus isn't quite finished.

Our immediate focus is on bringing the latest update to all of the game’s supported languages, so players around the world can enjoy the complete experience in their native tongue. We'll also continue to provide maintenance updates whenever needed to ensure the game remains in the best possible shape.

After that, the team will be taking a well-earned summer break. It's been a long road, and we'd like to recharge before beginning the next chapter of our journey as a studio. Once we're back, we'll start looking toward the future. We already have plenty of ideas to discuss and explore, and while it's still too early to share what comes next, we're excited to begin that process. As soon as we're ready to talk about our future plans, you'll be the first to know!

Important Note: Considering the extent of the improvements, there is little to no chance that we broke nothing in the process. Assume that we did not want to make anyone's life harder. If you see something amiss, please flag it to us using the usual channels, like the inbuilt reporting tool (F1 button), forums, and our Discord server.

Expedition Part IV. Hotfix (Update 1.3020714G)

Events & Texts

  • Fixed an issue that caused a softlock when returning to Camp ‘Overlook’ in certain scenarios at the end of the Expedition storyline.

  • You can now leave Ghazi behind at Camp ‘Overlook’ before committing to the final journey. He will go back to Bountiful Glade.

  • Fixed an issue that led to a softlock in Caverns of Kahrav.
  • Tweaked and corrected a variety of texts and typos.

Performance & Smoothness

  • Smoothened framerate in settlements and camps: eliminated a recurring calculation "storm" that was quietly recomputing comitatus and Crew stats every frame, which caused stutter while parked in towns and around camp.
  • Returning to the campaign map after a Companion or Crew Combat Encounter no longer produces a long stutter.
  • Saving the game now uses significantly less memory, reducing hitches when the game writes a save — especially on lower-end machines and consoles.
  • Reduced stuttering at the end of the in-game day and when loading savegames.
  • General stability and reliability improvements were added under the hood.

Localization

  • Added much broader translation coverage across menus and UI — many previously untranslated pieces of text are now localized.
  • Achievements and in-game pop-up news are now translated in all supported languages.
  • The game now auto-detects your language on first launch based on your Steam / GOG / Epic settings.
  • Various UI translation fixes.
