Hey everyone,
While we were busy preparing the next update, we almost forgot that Vagrus is turning 5 in a few weeks! Yes, this means that some of you have been conquering the wasteland for half a decade, and we at Lost Pilgrims have been grinding at it for a few years more than that.
In any case, we thought to take a look at what Vagrus comprises now, 5 years after its initial release on October 5th.
All the Times You Played
According to Steam data, you played for 1811935 hours since the game dropped in Early Access, which is about 75,500 days or 207 years of cumulative playtime. Together with all other platforms, this number is around a whopping 300 years. That’s a lot of Vagrus. In fact, even the Twelve would be proud of spending three centuries with such focused interest.
Build Them Numbers
Our first build for the main application (main game Vagrus as opposed to the Demo, which came earlier) was uploaded on the 14th Jun, 2020. At 18:05, if you want to be precise. Since then, we’ve uploaded 805 builds, the vast majority of which reached you, the players, while some were held back or cancelled for one reason or another.
Waffle On
At the time of writing this article, Vagrus has 2.7 million words in its Events, which is the main source of its content. This does not include UI texts (another 45 thousand), the descriptions of Skills, equipment, settlements, Properties, and other such elements (over 40 thousand more), as well as countless pages of external documents, be they art briefs, lore notes, management tables, or design documents. We really did waffle on for quite a while, but hopefully, we managed to say something worthwhile, too.
Visually Immeasurable
Then there is the visual art – 580 location and combat paintings, over 2000 campaign map tiles, 240 NPC portraits, close to 4000 character drawings (including enemy and companion idles, poses, and other related pieces), as well as thousands of icons and miscellaneous art.
Hear, Hear
The Riven Realms aren't exactly a quiet place, despite the world’s devastation. Across Vagrus, we've amassed close to two hours of music, and over one and a half hours sound effects, from the clatter of combat to the sounds of settlements and the many things that probably shouldn't be making noises at all.

Naturally, a video game as complex as Vagrus cannot truly be measured or understood by looking at numbers. However, with the five year anniversary upon us, we could not help but look back and quantify some of the many things we’ve done or experienced. None of this would have been possible without our amazing team and of course, you, vagri. And so, we’d like to take the opportunity to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us, and also to thank everyone who has worked on Vagrus or otherwise helped it come to be. Without your hard work and dedication, the Riven Realms would have stayed as a homebrew setting in a (few) desk drawer(s).
We hope you enjoyed this little trip down memory lane. To celebrate the occasion, we’ll be coming to you with other articles in the next few weeks. Until next time, stay awesome, stay safe, and conquer the wasteland!
