Character Poses - Yrg Warrior
28 Jan | 10:00 am

Yrg Warriors are very tough enemies but luckily they are not encountered often. When they are, make sure you have the right Companions healed up and ready for a savage battle because these chitinous juggernauts give no quarter and won't stop until they are killed.

What makes Yrg Warriors difficult to destroy is their high Armor value (in addition to a large pool of Vitality) and good Resistances to effects. They are difficult to Stun or Bleed, and have a high Block value to add even more Armor against attacks. However, they are quite slow and due to their bulk they may not be able to move around much on the battlefield.

Both of their Skills are damage-oriented, though each of them has its special perks that make them even more dangerous:

Blade Arms: The Warrior attacks with one of its scythe-like arms then follows up with the other, so this Skill chains two attacks into one, but with separate Hit, Crit, and Damage rolls. Both attacks have a high damage potential as well as being difficult to Block.

Acid Spit: A ranged attack that penetrates Armor, Acid Spit hits for moderate damage but debuffs the target's Armor stat for the entire combat.

Yrg Warriors typically accompany their weaker kin but sometimes (if you are really unlucky) you will come across a contingent of these hardy killing machines by themselves. Whichever the case, you should be prepared for a very dangerous fight.

Character Poses - Scortaur
03 Dec | 10:00 am

This time, we'll revisit the dreaded Scortaur and take a look at their stats and skills in general. These creatures are devious, fierce, and horribly mutated, so you'll have to be prepared to be challenged by their combat abilities when you run into them.

The most apparent stats when it comes to these horrid savages are the high Vitality and Block chance, which often adds a bonus to their already considerable Armor. Additionally, they are quite resistant to many status effects and have great Initiative. Their four Combat Skills make them versatile opponents:

Character Poses - Yrg Worker
19 Nov | 10:00 am

The most common type of Yrg are Workers, so much so, in fact, that most people on the continent equate the Yrg race with these nearly mindless drones. Though there are many more sub-species of these insectoids, the Workers indeed make up the vast majority of hives. With utter disregard for their own safety they build, haul, guard, and explore in the name of the hive. Sometimes workers are abducted by specialized hunters and are made to serve as mounts, beasts of burden, or even arena fodder by the use of crystal magic.

Character Poses - Undead Legionnaire
01 Oct | 10:00 am

Legionnaires are often not relieved of their duties in the Empire once they die but are resurrected as Undead soldiers to continue serving the Emperor and His Holy Agenda. These mindless, soulless shamblers are then sent against enemies of the Empire in the thousands. They feel no fear - they feel nothing, really.

Sometimes these automatons still carry faded legionnaire equipment and pieces of armor, stumbling forward at the command of their necromantic masters. They are slow yet quite sturdy, their skeletal bodies and worn armor proving difficult for most attacks to damage.

Unliving Stab: This is the only skill of this enemy type, which is neither intimidating nor anything special - a single-target, weak melee attack.

Though no serious threat on its own, the real potential of the Unliving Legionnaire is unlocked when they swarm the battlefield in numbers and especially when they are supported by Necromancers who can buff, heal, and even summon additional units of them.

Character Poses - Krawag
17 Sep | 10:00 am

The Krawag - draconic reptiles bred to be hunter-killers or guard animals - are easily among the most dangerous enemies in Vagrus. Some of them go rogue and live the solitary life of an apex predator in the cruel wilderness of the Riven Realms, giving vagri like you trouble; others are captured and sent into arenas for entertainment; while still others roam the land in the service of the Dragonlands and its armies.

Character Poses - Imperial Legionnaire
03 Sep | 10:00 am

The backbone of the Imperial legions are its legionnaires and for a good reason. Disciplined and rigorously trained, these men and women are further hardened by years of service in faraway provinces and front lines, which involves incessant marching with heavy equipment, surviving in hostile environments, and of course combat. Due to their quality equipment and developed fighting style the legionnaires are among the most successful armed forces of the continent.

Both the regular legionnaire and the legionnaire captain are enemies you can encounter in the game - usually when you go up against the law or the Empire in some way. Alone these soldiers are tough but manageable opponents; their true strength comes from standing next to each other as they grant Armor to any neighboring allies in the same line. This is complemented by their set of combat skills:

Gladius Stab: A single-target melee attack that has the Armor Piercing property. Though it does not deal a lot of damage, it is reliable and accurate.

Scutum Shove: The legionnaire uses his large shield (scutum) to shove a melee opponent, pushing them back and dealing low damage. This attack is very difficult to block.

Formations!: Only the legionnaire captain has this combat skill. It can be used to buff a single friendly unit with bonus Accuracy, Block, and Resistance against all effects.

Though lacking real burst damage potential, these soldiers are great at becoming a great barrier that is almost impossible to break up. Using shoves, they set their enemies for accurate attacks and wear them down slowly but steadily. You must be aware of this and try to separate them to rob them of their buffs. Otherwise, you'll have a hard time dealing with them.

Character Poses - Dragonguard
13 Aug | 10:00 am

Dragonguard are the elite soldiers of the Dragonlands, tentative allies of the Empire. Their training is extremely tough, and only already accomplished soldiers are selected to take part in it. Equipped with powerful Dragonsteel equipment that harnesses the magic of Dragonkind, these elite troopers are among the most dangerous opponents you can come across in the Riven Realms. Be sure not to make enemies of them needlessly.

The different versions of Dragonguard not only sport different coloring but also in the elemental effects of their combat skills. The red Dragonguard, for example, applies fire damage on its strikes with the buff ability, the blue one applies lightning, while the green applies Poison.

Disciplined Swing: A basic attack that is very accurate due to the rigorous training of the Dragonguard but has low critical chance. It is still deadly enough combined with the amazing toughness of these soldiers.

Invoke the Flame: Each and every member of the Dragonguard is able to wield the Flame, that is, the power of the Dragonlord they swore fealty to. The Flame is channeled through their Dragonsteel equipment and enhances that gear for a short time, granting them Resistance bonuses as well as elemental damage on their normal attacks.

Draconic Roar: The Dragonguard make use of another draconic power - the mighty roar of their Dragon counterparts. Even used by a mere mortal, this ability is quite devastating, potentially Stunning the target and applying a Fear debuff on them for a short period.

Even a lone Dragonguard can be quite a challenge to a Companion thanks to their amazing defenses, stamina, and selection of skills but a platoon will be very tough nut to crack even for an experienced band of adventurers.
